I Really love the details in the background
The background is amazingly well detailed and the eyes and hair are stunning.

I wouldn't call it detailed because if you think about it, the backgrounds are just simple shapes. I think it's simply done so that you're filling in little gaps of detail. IMO, I think it's what makes simpler styles very powerful if they are able to suggests details that you do not literally see.
Ever seen this artist who's probably more deserving of the title of being a master of pixels?

In principle, his hyper-detailed style is actually more similar to the style I did my cover art with than we think. He draws simple shapes with his colors just like I did. It's pretty amazing.
