Icon for RadiantKitsune by Pix3M Icon for RadiantKitsune by Pix3M
Colors were a tad difficult, but I made it work as well as I can. :iconpinkieshrugplz:

I knew when I saw this icon on someone that it was yours, haha. There is a lot to say about style recognition, although I admit I'm not sure who else it could have been.

Anyhow, the one thing I do question this time is the highlights only on his nose. To be honest with you he kind of looks like he's got the same shape as a wooden horse toy. When you use harsh edges and flat sides like that, with a hard transition, you kind of get that effect sometimes. Unfortunately I didn't bother learning portraits enough to learn how to overcome this, basically, so I'm still just a lazy butt that does round faces and lighting.

Wooden horse toy? I was looking at him like a piece of plastic lolol. I'll see if I can get around this visual effect. I once re-read a pixel art tutorial written by somebody held in pretty high regard that areas of solid color (aka pixel clusters) can be used to create a 3D-ish model of sorts by creating a fun wireframe. That was mostly the sort of approach as I colored different flat planes different colors to try to create an actual impression of it being a 3-d object. I can say I got there, but maybe there could have been a more natural looking approach.

Ahh, well, plastic is a better comparison, but I was speaking strictly as far as the perceived shape itself goes. If you can manage to texture something to look like a wooden horse, teach me >_> But no, I do see what you mean there, really.

How much would it be for an icon that wasn't shaded?

Like maybe 320 points regardless of style. May be kind of high for dA but four bucks gets you hardly anything.

I'm actually impressed with how many icon commissions I get/do at 280:points:, frankly. The majority of dA is still pretty much stingy/ignorant about how to price them, but plenty of people in the Pony community seem fine with the numbers. It seemed the same way when SoulSpade opened up commissions and got all kinds of people holding their hands forward.

I can understand why the price is high in points ^^
